South Africa is simply one of the most picturesque places on the planet; it’s a beautiful country and is home to some of the most impressive wildlife that the Southern Hemisphere has to offer. Whether you’re a first time visitor to the country, or an experienced wildlife adventurer, you’re bound to be impressed by this incredible country.
Game Reserves cover large parts of South Africa, and private lodges in these wildlife havens are a brilliant solution if you want to travel to this country to experience seeing it’s animals in their natural habitat. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite Private Lodges on Game Reserves to give you some ideas.
Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, Port Elizabeth Area
Located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, this hidden gem treats it’s guests to luxury like no other. With a total of just 15 suites across two lodges, this game reserve is perfect for families in it’s Ecca Lodge whilst River Lodge offers suites with private plunge pools which offer stunning views of the landscape which surrounds them.
Pumba Private Game Reserve & Spa, Port Elizabeth Area
Also in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, Pumba Private Game Reserve is home to two stunning lodges. Water Lodge is home to 12 chalets which are air conditioned and have thatched roofs with stone walls; the chalets all have outdoor showers and incredible views from their private decks. The second lodge is called Msenge Bush, and this houses 11 glass-walled suites that all have plunge pools which overlook the waterhole and plain, whilst also benefiting from air conditions and a dining deck.
The Outpost Lodge, Kruger
Boasting perhaps the most unforgettable views in South Africa, the Outpost lodge is located in (even by South Africa’s standards) one of the remote parts of the country. The lodge houses 12 ensuite rooms which are decorated in true African designs with bathrooms which are open air with views over the reserve. The lodge offers it’s guests a bar, dining room, deck, swimming pool and a lounge.
Marataba Safari Lodge, The Waterberg
This Safari Lodge is settled amongst 23,000 hectares of african plaines, rivers, gorges and bushes around the Waterberg Mountains. There are 15 suites on offer at this lodge, all offering a private deck an external shower facility. Five of the suites are crowned as ‘eco-suites’ to give guests an insight into what carbon neutral living, South African style, is all about.
